Course overview

The NSW public sector delivers a wide range of services to the community.  By managing risk, the public sector maximises its ability to meet its objectives and deliver its services effectively and efficiently.  This course will provide information on how an organisation can use risk management processes and tools in alignment with business planning and improvement cycles. This is a foundation course and suited to public sector staff looking to develop and apply risk management skills within current roles.

Course program highlights

This workshop will explore principles of risk management standard and the NSW Internal Audit and Risk Management Policy.

This course comprises of three sessions:
  • Session 1: Explore and workshop risk management in the NSW Public Sector
  • Session 2: Explore and workshop risk management and the risk process by applying a hypothetical case study
  • Session 3: Apply selected tools in an action learning environment
Prior to this session, it would be beneficial for attendees to read their agency’s Risk Management policy and guidelines to familiarise themselves with the organisation's strategic objectives as this will form part of the discussion.
